The Smiles Say It All

We can see what we do for others when it is radiating back at us via megawatt smiles! This is the joyful fun that a Springsteen concert brings and we are so happy to be a part of helping people get there.

Deneise was able to attend the Springsteen show in Detroit with a little ticket reimbursement funding from us. And the real cherry on top was getting to spend the evening with her son who also shares a love of music with his Mom and even plays guitar.

In Deneise’s own words: “It was so great….I cannot thank you enough….Bruce rocked Detroit and we rocked with him! Incident for the first time on the tour!!! What an awesome night…and Dustin loved it too…he could not believe how long Bruce rocked and was amazed at the show…Thanks Bruce Funds. I’m still on a cloud….WOW is a great word to describe it….Bruce Karma is wonderful!!!!”

Wow, wow and wow. I am astounded and astonished by the generosity and concern of Bruce fans worldwide. I find it difficult to put into words my emotions. Given that Bruce is unlikely to come to South Africa, this is probably going to be the only show of his I’ll see, so I cannot tell you how much this means to me. My grateful thanks once again.

I would like to thank Bruce Funds, the Springsteen Community and all the wonderful fans who donated towards getting my son, Craig Green, to the concert in London.

His family are all thrilled – and extremely grateful – that he is able to get there and know how much it will mean to him.

Do Springsteen fans take care of their own?

Hell yes, we do.

Congratulations, Craig. You are going to London!

Working on a Dream

Meet Craig Green, our current Bruce Funds nominee whom we’re proud to sponsor.

Craig lives in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. He’s been a Springsteen fan since 1978.

Craig has a dream to see Bruce in London at the Hard Rock Calling Festival in July. Bruce Funds is committed to helping him get there, with your help.

To put it in the simplest terms, if 100 people who follow us on Twitter or Facebook could each donate $5.00 (dollars, euros, pound sterling, etc), we’d be able to get Craig well on his way to achieving his goal of getting to London. But this isn’t a simple task by any means, this is a monumental task. Many people and many places need help in these hard times.

Craig is one of them, and Craig is one of us. As Bruce fans, we want to take care of our own.

In Craig’s own words…

“I first heard about Bruce in 1978 via my older brother who was, and in some ways still is, my music mentor. I’d been listening to the Stones, The Beatles, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, the Who. Then my brother played Darkness, from beginning to end. I bought it. I bought Born to Run. I bought Greetings. I bought The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle. I’d found what I was looking for. (Unlike U2!) There was no Bruce song I didn’t want to hear. And, unlike most of the others, here was a man whose words resonated deep within me.

You can’t play ‘Summer of 69’ when you’ve lost your job! You play ‘Something in the Night’ – ‘You’re born with nothing, and better off that way, Soon as you’ve got something they send someone to try and take it away.’  I played that song long and loud each time I lost my job. So that’s three times that the family had to put up with it. Just as soon as you get on top of things, providing for your family and kids, ‘gambling man rolls the dice, working man pays the bill’ and you’re back to square one.

I have every Bruce album released. I have many bootlegs. Still want to hear ‘30 Days Out’ live. I watch the concerts with tears running down my cheeks, and hope that my wife doesn’t see me crying! Bruce has made me want to reach out and help the working man, and heaven knows, in South Africa there are many who need this help. Every weekend you see men on the side of the road desperate for work. These are men who ‘always loved the feel of sweat on my shirt Stand back son and let a man work Let a man work, is that so wrong I woke up this morning shackled and drawn’ and for whom Bruce sings.

And now my three kids are Bossfans too. But I am, and remain, the @Biggestbossfan.”
